What Level of Care is Right for You?
Choose Between Independent, Assisted, or Memory Care
Independent Living
Independent Living residents live autonomously but want to be in a senior community with access to dining, activities, transportation, housekeeping, and maintenance-free homes. Their living options include one or two bedroom apartments within the community, or Villas a short walking distance from the main building. Because of their independent status, they do not receive assistance with daily tasks, although they do live a maintenance-free lifestyle. For example, they will not receive assistance with dressing, but will receive laundry care.
Seniors in Independent Living partake in active lifestyles through group exercises, happy hours, shopping excursions, and so much more.
Assisted Living
Assisted Living residents want to maintain an independent lifestyle but may need some help with daily activities such as medication management, assistance with bathing, grooming and/or dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation, and activities.
In Assisted Living, levels of care are broken down into five categories:
Level 1 is super independent. They do everything themselves. They usually manage their own medications, and can do their own laundry (if they choose to). They are in Assisted Living mostly for social stimulation.
Level 2 may still be independent, but may need help with their meds and they may need a little bit of encouragement to attend activities. Activities are really important because they are life-enriching.
Level 3 gets into higher levels of care. These are the people that probably need assistance to go to the bathroom, need an escort to dinner, help with showers.
Level 4 is that with more.
Level 5 is our highest level of healthcare. An example of this would be a senior who has come from a skilled nursing facility, can only stand and pivot, but is in therapy and has a positive prognosis for improving. We don’t accept many Level 5 residents, but because we are an age-in-place facility, we might take that risk.
Assisted Living residents live in studios or one or two-bedroom apartments on-campus, and receive 3 meals a day. They participate in a wide-range of activities, such as chair exercises, corn hole, painting classes, movie nights, dance parties, and so much more.
Memory Care
Memory Care residents receive supervised care in a secure environment. This is designated for seniors with dementia including Alzheimer’s disease. Memory care offers a structured program with routines in place to create a safe, stress-free environment for seniors with varying degrees of memory loss.
Residents participate in stimulating, sensory activities that provide a sense of fulfillment and creativity. Because of the smaller environment, they receive one-on-one care and interaction. Residents may choose between studio, one-bedroom apartments within the secure Memory Care area.
In Conclusion…
Through our “neighborhood style” community personal care, we offer environments and services that cater to your changing healthcare requirements. A resident who starts out in Independent Living may later on move into Assisted Living, or vice versa. The level of care you require is not a signifier of your age or health. It is a tool to best serve you, to create an inclusive environment for your needs, and to properly welcome you into your new home.
